Why The WWE
Hall Of Fame Should Induct More Than One Woman Annually
Recently, the WWE announced that this year’s Hall of Fame
Inductee for the Women’s Division will be the First WWE Divas Champion, Michelle
McCool. While this is wonderful news for Michelle McCool who is most certainly
deserving of the honor, it has once again prompted many wrestling fans to
wonder why there is still only one woman being inducted annually every year
into the WWE Hall Of Fame when there are so many women waiting to receive that
honor. Some fans have even stated that it’s not fair for only one woman to be
inducted every year when several men are inducted annually. Several fans feel
that only one woman being represented as an inductee each year is a setback to
all of the progress that has been made for the Women’s Division in WWE.
By allowing the possibility of more than one
woman to be inducted annually, it increases the chance of women who have not
been inducted as of yet, a chance to receive the honor while they are still
living such as Debra, Heidi Lee Morgan, Cherry, Jillian Hall, Kelly Kelly,
Cameron, Terri Runnels, Dawn Marie, Stephanie McMahon, Kharma, Shaniqua,
Christy Hemme, Vickie Guerrero, Joy Giovanni, Sable, The Kat, Rosa Mendes, Mike
McGuirk, Tori or Candice Michelle. Additionally, by allowing the possibility of
more than one woman to be inducted annually, it allows women who have sadly
passed on to be given the respect and honor that they deserve for their careers
and contributions to the wrestling industry such as Nicole Bass, Chyna, Miss
Elizabeth, Bertha Faye, Vivian Vachon, Sapphire and Ashley Massaro. Several
fans have hoped for more representation for the women in the WWE Hall of Fame
with the hopes that other deserving women such as Melina Perez, Mickie James,
Victoria, Jazz, Eve Torres, AJ Lee, Layla El, Kaitlyn, Alicia Fox, Rockin’
Robin, Summer Rae, Maria Kanellis, Judy Martin, Leilani Kai, Nidia, Velvet
McIntyre, Maryse or Gail Kim will get the honor of being inducted. Even using
the annual Hall of Fame spot for a tag team or stable to be inducted such as
The Chickbusters, The Glamour Girls, LayCool, Pretty Mean Sisters, The Divas Of
Doom, The IIconics, Foxsana, The Slayers, Extreme Expose, The Jumping Bomb
Angels or The Funkadactyls would allow more than one woman to receive the honor.
With so many women deserving the recognition for their legacies in the WWE,
having more than one women’s inductee a year into the WWE Hall of Fame is long
overdue and very much needed.
