Sending Your Stress Away: Simple Ways To Help You De-Stress

Sending Your Stress Away: Simple Ways To Help You De-Stress!

Stress…We have all experienced it at one point in our lives. It keeps us awake at night, can cause us to lose our appetite, bring forth illnesses, make us become emotional and many other things. While we cannot always prevent stress, we can help control it by focusing on things in our lives to help us de-stress such as hobbies or activities. Here are a few ideas on simple things you can do to make your life a little more stress-free.

The first activity you can try to help you de-stress is coloring. Coloring in a coloring book often brings back memories from our childhood, when we had less problems to worry about. Coloring can be therapeutic and can also help us focus on our inner creativity. If you don’t wish to go out to the store and buy a coloring book, you can always do a Google search for coloring pages and print them out. You can even see if they might have coloring pages of you favorite cartoon characters from your childhood, whether that be The Flintstones, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rainbow Brite etc.

Another activity that may bring back childhood memories and help you to de-stress is watching cartoons from your childhood. Many people say that nobody is ever too old for a Disney movie so whether it’s Cinderella, Pocahontas, A Goofy Movie etc., pop in that DVD of your favorite Disney film growing up, sit back, enjoy a favorite snack and relax.

Not in a Disney mood? That’s fine! There are many non-Disney animated films out there that are just as enjoyable including Anastasia, The Princess And The Goblin, The Swan Princess etc.

Want to relax in a quieter way? You could always take a nice, warm soak in the tub. While many of us can’t afford that fancy spa trip or luxurious hot tub, sometimes a bubble bath in our own bathtub at home is just the thing we need to melt our worries away.
Sometimes to de-stress, we need to dance or sing it out. Music is a great stress reliever so pop in that favorite CD or look up your favorite songs on YouTube and sing it out while dancing your stresses away.

Another activity you can do to de-stress that is creative and therapeutic is writing. Whether that be writing in a diary, blogging, writing a story or even some poetry, you are getting creative energy out and also can write out your stresses and frustrations in imaginative ways. If you do go about writing a story or poem, you can even look into getting it published if you like how your written work of art turns out.

Another relaxing activity you can do to de-stress is reading. Reading can open the mind to learning all sorts of new things, keep you updated on current events and help you think, in a more philosophical matter. So open up that newspaper or favorite magazine and enjoy a few articles.

Rather read a book? There are many great books out there to choose from, whether fiction or non-fiction. You can even head to your local library and relive some childhood memories by checking out some old books you remember reading from your childhood, whether that’s the Harry Potter series, Chronicles Of Narnia series, Babysitters Club series etc.

Yoga is also a relaxing actvity you can take part it. Not only is it stress-relieving, it also is a good activity to keep you body fit and healthy. You don't even need to take a trip to a yoga studio to do it. You can try yoga from the comfort of your own home by popping in a yoga DVD from the library or watching some YouTube videos.

They say laughter is the best medicine. In this case, it's true as things that make us laugh can get our minds off the stressful things in life. So pop in a DVD of a comedy movie like Kingdom Come, Norbit or First Sunday etc. or watch an episode from one of your favorite comedy sitcoms like Hot In Cleveland, 2 Broke Girls, I Love Lucy etc. and get ready to laugh your stresses away.
