Perfectly Imperfect: Embracing & Accepting Insecurities

Perfectly Imperfect: Embracing & Accepting Insecurities

Insecurities sometimes can get the better of us. We look in the mirror and think “I wish I had a clearer complexion” or “I wish I didn’t have this scar.” Other times, we may even look at someone else and think “I wish I was as pretty and confident as them” or “I wish I was tall like them” or “I wish my hair looked as great as their hair always does.” While it is fine to think of others as beautiful for qualities they have, we should never let it tear us down by comparing ourselves to them especially when were all made to be different and all have our own unique beauty. While it can be difficult at times, we should try not to let our insecurities affect us negatively by putting ourselves down or by putting others down just because we wish we looked more like them, because we wish we possessed a quality that they have or because we wish we were as confident as them when it comes to who they are as an individual.

Instead, we should accept and love ourselves for who we are. Find a way to turn your insecurities into confidence! Sometimes this isn’t always an easy task but we should embrace who we are, flaws and all. We weren’t made to be perfect but we are perfectly imperfect. Love the things that make you beautiful, both inner and outer and love every little detail about you because it makes you the unique and special person that you are and because everything about you is a part of your story in this journey we call life.
